PSA: Until the middle of the twentieth century, “making love” meant something more akin to “flirting” than babymaking

mumblingsage:

It shows up in Marx Brothers movies, too. Though the absolute king of them all has to be the Narnia book where a eleven or twelve year old Jill Pole makes love to a castle full of giants after Puddleglum convinces her and Eustace that the only way to survive is to be gay.
